Today Council President and Sister City Liaison Richard Conlin applauded the fundraising efforts of the Seattle-Christchurch Sister City Association and New Zealand expatriates. Since the February 22 earthquake, $45,000 has been raised to help the people of Christchurch.

Seattle City Council President commends WSDOT as the Alaskan Way Viaduct replacement project continues forward
News Release
City Council President Richard Conlin released the statement below in support of the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), following federal approval on the Alaskan Way Viaduct replacement project's record of decision. This approval completes the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) process, allowing construction to continue forward.
UP #312 The $60 Vehicle License Fee Vote
On August 17, the Seattle Transportation Benefit District Board (STBD), which consists of Seattle City Councilmembers, unanimously voted to place a measure on the November ballot for a $60 vehicle license fee. It would run for 10 years, and raise $204 million.
