The Seattle Needs Rent Control movement is gathering steam – our rent control petition now has well over 2,000 signatures. But we have a very long way to go, especially since opposition from billionaire developers and corporate landlords will be fierce and has only just begun. Over the summer, we will be at events, parks, churches, cafes, street corners, and apartment buildings, gathering signatures, getting endorsements, and organizing working people into a powerful movement for rent control.
This Saturday, we will be listening to music, soaking up sun, celebrating pride and building our rent control movement at the Volunteer Park Pride Festival. Join us!
There is huge support for rent control all across Seattle. But we need volunteers to be able to channel that support into a movement capable of forcing Mayor Durkan and corporate City Councilmembers to do what’s right for renters over millionaire developers and landlords.
