Seattle City Light CEO Confirmation Q&A – Part 1

Home » Seattle City Light CEO Confirmation Q&A – Part 1

On February 4, 2016, Larry Weis, the Mayor’s nominee for Seattle City Light General Manager and Chief Executive Officer, appeared before the Energy and Environment Committee for the first of several meetings regarding his nomination.

Councilmembers asked him a series of questions. We discussed several areas of concern to Seattle, including climate change, executive pay, and gender and racial justice.

Over the course the meeting, I asked Mr. Weis to explain why he advocated for building a 500 MW natural gas power plant, why he argued that the Austin City Council wanted too much solar power, and the Mayor’s office answered questions about setting the highest city executive salary. Watch the clip below to hear his responses*. You can also view the full discussion here.

The second discussion will take place at City Hall, in Council Chambers, on Wednesday, February 17, at 6 PM.
