Today Councilmember Maritza Rivera (District 4) released the following statement after the passage of the Families, Education, Preschool and Promise (FEPP) Levy, which was supported by more than 70% of Seattle voters.

“This vote is a huge victory for Seattle’s kids.

“I want to thank Seattle residents for continuing to support the Family, Education, Preschool and Promise Levy — as they have generously done for the last 35 years. These investments will provide concrete, long-lasting, positive outcomes in the lives of kids. The levy-funded programs and services — such as childcare, preschool, school-based health centers, mental health care, and universal access to a two-year college degree — directly support kids’ educational achievement.

“We are in chaotic and uncertain times, and this levy renewal provides much needed stability and opportunity for our young people. I am also grateful for the collaboration with the Mayor’s office and with my colleagues on the Council to get this on the ballot and in front of voters.”
