‘Brought clarity, sharp legal wisdom, and a passion to the second floor’
Following yesterday’s announcement that Councilmember Cathy Moore (District 5) plans to step down in July, Councilmember Joy Hollingsworth (District 3) released this statement:
“I want to thank Councilmember Cathy Moore for her service to Seattle and her deep commitment to the people of District 5. It’s been an honor to serve with her over the last 18 months.
“Her decision to step down is met with a profound sense of respect and heartfelt appreciation for the integrity and thoughtfulness with which she has always led. Cathy brought clarity, sharp legal wisdom, and a passion to the second floor and Council Chambers. Whether she was advocating for community safety, housing stability, or human services, her leadership was rooted in care for our city.
“As a colleague, Cathy Moore has been principled and compassionate, as she was always ready to listen, willing to ask the hard questions, and never afraid to speak the truth. Her presence will be deeply missed, and her acts of kindness as a human being to others will continue to influence and shape my work.
“We wish her plenty of rest, positive health outcomes and peace on the other side of the dias. Again, thank you Councilmember Moore.”
