Public Safety Chair Kettle statement on recent gun violence surge

Councilmember Bob Kettle (District 7), chair of the Public Safety Committee, released the following statement in response to Saturday morning’s triple homicide and other recent incidents of gun violence in the Pioneer Square neighborhood.

“The violence this weekend in Pioneer Square and other parts of the city shows, despite progress being made on our public safety challenges, there’s still more work to be done. As a City we must continue to collaborate and implement the various pieces of legislation passed and signed into law by this Council. But we also need to explore additional measures to help carry out our Strategic Framework Plan and advance our goal for creating a safer environment for everyone in Seattle.”
