Build the City is free, family friendly, and will feature raffles and prizes.

You can help spread the word by sharing this page or this flyer for the event.

Who is hosting this event?

The event is hosted by Seattle City Councilmember Tammy J. Morales in partnership with the Seattle Office of Planning and Community Development, Urban Family, Choose 180, the Museum of History and Industry, and Bumbershoot.

What is the Comprehensive Plan and why is it important?

The Comprehensive Plan literally shapes our city. It is a 20-year guide for how Seattle should do things like build new affordable housing, improve transportation, address climate change, create community spaces, and so much more.

It’s an incredibly important document, and the City only updates it about once every 10 years. The City of Seattle is in the process of updating our current plan right now. You can learn more about the Comprehensive Plan on this webpage.

It’s crucial that we hear from our city’s youth. This plan will impact them for decades to come. Unfortunately, all to often the voices of our city’s young people go unheard. This event aims to begin to address that.
