Dancers celebrate Lunar New Year at Seattle City Hall.

Members of the Seattle City Council signed on to a proclamation recognizing February 10, 2024 as Lunar New Year, Year of the Dragon.

The proclamation was brought forward by Seattle City Councilmembers Tammy J. Morales (District 2) and Tanya Woo (Position 8). Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell also signed on to the proclamation.

“As we say good-bye to the year of the rabbit (or cat in Vietnamese culture), I’m proud to have worked with Councilmember Tammy J. Morales and community members like Linh Thai to bring forward a proclamation recognizing February 10th as the Lunar New Year of the Dragon,” said Councilmember Woo on social media.

“Thank you to Mak Fai Kung Fu Dragon & Lion Dance Association 麥顯輝龍獅團 for celebrating the signing of the Proclamation with a Lion dance to usher in good luck to City Hall,” she continued. “May the Year of the Dragon bring us all good fortune, justice, prosperity, and strength. Happy Lunar New Year of the Dragon!”
