Council President M. Lorena González (Position 9, Citywide), Chair of the Governance & Education Committee, issued the following statement in response to the King County Regional Homelessness Authority hiring a new CEO:

“As a member of the King County Regional Homelessness Authority’s Governing Committee, I was proud to support the selection of Regina Cannon as the Authority’s first Chief Executive Officer.

“Ms. Cannon brings to our region significant experience in building coalitions, centering racial equity and championing housing as a human right. During her interview, I was impressed with her compassion, her commitment to racial equity and her long-term vision to help our County work together to end the experience of homelessness for so many.

“The selection of Ms. Cannon was delayed but worth the wait. Her appointment is a significant milestone in our work to advance collaborative, regional solutions to address the homelessness crises throughout King County. I look forward to working with Ms. Cannon and her team as we continue this critical work.

“Thank you to the Lived Experience Coalition members, the Implementation Board and all of the City and County staff that contributed to the achievement of this milestone.”
