Councilmember Godden’s Statement on Proposed Smoking Ban in Seattle Parks

SEATTLECouncilmember Jean Godden today issued the following statement relating to the proposal to ban smoking in Seattle Parks:

“As Chair of the Council’s Parks Committee, my aim is to preserve safe, breathable open-spaces for relaxation and recreation throughout our city. I fully support a smoking ban in Seattle parks, as second-hand smoke runs counter to the way parks are meant to be enjoyed.”

“To ensure equitable enforcement, I’ll be reaching out to the Park Board to request that an evaluation be tied to the new rule.”
