This afternoon Mayor Murray unveiled his framework for a new Department of Education and Early Learning in city government. I fully support this move and will work for its inclusion in the City’s 2015 budget.
The City Council called for the creation of this new department last fall to ensure that all of the city government’s services and resources are aligned and fully integrated to support our littlest learners.
A quality education empowers children of all backgrounds to lead healthier and happier lives — and their success makes our city stronger.
The Council will hear more details about the Mayor's plan in a public briefing this coming Monday morning.
