A quick nod to the University of Washington, which was just ranked the 25th best university in the world by the (London) Times Higher Education. The rankings also affirmed the university's leadership in the fields of health and science. With such a strong research institution in our backyard (that also happens to be the City's largest employer), it's not surprising Seattle has witnessed the emergence of a thriving life sciences industry.
