Public Hearing on Seattle Preschool Program Implementation Plan Wednesday

Seattle City Council’s Education & Governance Committee, chaired by Council President Tim Burgess,will host a public hearing on the Seattle Preschool Program (SPP) Implementation Plan this Wednesday morning.  The Plan details the operational specifics of the SPP, including program evaluation, provider and student selection processes, application procedures, staff education supports, and instructor compensation, among other topics.

Each member of the public will have up to two minutes to address the committee, and public comment sign-up sheets will be available at 9:15 a.m.  Prior to the public hearing, which is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m., the Committee will hear from a researcher who studied early learning best practices in other cities, review Council staff’s analysis of the Implementation Plan, and hear from a panel of existing preschool providers. The committee will meet to further discuss the proposal on April 1 at 9:30 a.m.
