Yesterday at my Council committee a panel of preschool providers spoke to us about their programs, the children they serve, and some of the elements that make their classrooms high-quality. It is always good to hear from those working directly with kids and it is helpful context especially as the Council continues to discuss the details of the Seattle Preschool Program implementation.
You can watch what they have to say in the video below at the 1:10:50 mark:
The panel included Brianna Jackson from the Community Day School Association, Dominique Alex from the Genesee Early Learning Center, Heuiling Chan from the Chinese Information and Service Center, Matthew O'Connor from South Shore K-8, and Dr. Debra Sullivan from Seattle Central College.
Earlier in the meeting, the Council heard findings presented by researcher Jim Minervino on best practices in other exemplar preschool programs around the country. The video of that presentation starts at the 1:30 mark.
