DPD Tip 134

The City and the State have been active on marijuana issues in recent weeks.

The City’s Department of Planning and Development has released a document explaining City of Seattle regulations regarding marijuana-related businesses, in the wake of the Council passage of Council Bill 117781.

The State Liquor Control Board finalized rules for implementing I-502, passed by Washington State voters in 2012. You can download the rules here, or view the summary. Under the timeline adopted by the Board, applications for licenses to grow, process or sell marijuana will be accepted beginning on November 18, through December 19.

The state legislature required the Liquor Control Board and the Departments of Health and Revenue to make recommendations to the state legislature regarding medical marijuana by January 1, 2014. The departments released draft recommendations on October 21. You can submit public comments through November 8 by e-mailing medicalmarijuana@liq.wa.gov (now extended to November 13).

The Board will hold a public hearing on the draft recommendations on November 13 at Saint Martin’s University from 6-9 p.m., at 5300 Pacific Avenue, in Lacey.
