Celebrating the great work of the Greenway Trust

I attended the Celebrate Greenway Heritage event Wednesday evening at Snoqualmie Point Park. It was a special summer evening dedicated to the great work accomplished by the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust. The Greenway connects 1.5 million acres surrounding Interstate 90. Over 800,000 acres of land are now publicly owned, from city parks to expansive public forests, and another 90,000 acres are conserved as permanent private forests.

It was night of great barbecue, live music, and community celebration. I want to pass my congratulations and thanks along to Jim Ellis, Founding President of the Greenway Trust and one of our great civic leaders. He has my heart and gratitude forever. I also want to thank Bill Chapman, Sally Jewell, and the rest of the Board of Directors.

Mountains to Sound Greenway Summer is a summer-long festival boasting more than 100 activities and events taking place over 100 days, sprinkled across 24 Greenway communities – all along the 100 mile I-90 corridor. The festival celebrates the conservation and education efforts in the Mountains to Sound Greenway and the over 4,000 annual volunteers who give their time to enhance it.
