Councilmember Licata’s Statement Regarding Adoption of City Budget

SEATTLECouncilmember Nick Licata, chair of the Budget Committee, released the following statement regarding today’s Council Budget Committee vote to approve the 2015 annual budget:

“The Budget the Committee passed today invests in a healthy community by addressing homelessness, access to health care, support for enforcement of labor standards and other cost-effective strategies benefitting families, communities, and the economy.

“When basic needs such as safety, stability and health are met, the benefits ripple throughout communities and the economy. When more people have a chance to reach their full potential and enough economic security to make investments in their future, our city will flourish.”

The Budget Committee action retains the package passed 9-0 on November 14, with slight modifications, and an updated revenue estimate.

The Full Council will vote at today’s 2:00 p.m. Full Council meeting. The Budget Committee consists of all nine Councilmembers.
