No, not that kind of joint. This joint is about performance.

It’s Nights at the Neptune: A People’s Theatre Joint, produced by Seattle Theatre Group (STG), the non-profit arts organization running the Paramount, Moore and Neptune theatres.  The series will be held at the historic Neptune Theatre in the University District featuring 8 projects to be presented between June 25 & September 17, 2013. It’s free and supported by the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods.NeighborhoodsLogo2010_2

Selected performances represent art created and performed by some of the city’s most innovative artists and include comedy, new plays, dance theatre, film, cultural music, and hip-hop. A People’s Theatre Joint gives voice to under-served populations and explores issues on race and social justice – a performance series by the people and for the people.

The Neptune Theatre

STG engaged a group of local artists, arts managers, and community leaders to select the artists while keeping in mind the following criteria: presenting artists or organizations must be based in Seattle; artistic significance; capacity to complete their presentation; draw participants from traditionally under-served populations; engage the University District neighborhood, the vicinity of The Neptune Theatre and the Seattle region; and include issues relating to race, social justice, youth, or marginalized populations.

The series runs now through September 17th. Click here for the schedule.
