Lake Union Cleanup returns July 5th

Home » Lake Union Cleanup returns July 5th

Independence Day draws near, and it’s a great time to gather with friends and family to celebrate. But it’s something else when you show up on a weekday morning to meet with like-minded folks and get down to the business of cleaning up after everyone else’s good time the night before.

On July 5th of last year, Starbucks conducted a Lake Union cleanup event that canvassed the shore, the parks, and the streets around the lake. An armada of kayaks even cruised the lake to clear debris from the water.

Over 700 volunteers turned out and collected over a ton of garbage in and around Lake Union. A third of that amount was separated out and sent to be recycled. It’s a community response like this that makes me proud to call Seattle home.

Starbucks is organizing another clean up for next Tuesday, July 5th. Celebrate the red, white and blue on Monday, and then come out to help return us to “green” on Tuesday morning.

5th of July Lake Union Cleanup

Starbucks is proud to be a premier supporter of the Family 4th at Lake Union fireworks show and we want to give back to our community by making sure we clean up after ourselves.  It seems you agree.  After the amazing attendance last year, we are reviving the Starbucks 5th of July Lake Union Cleanup and encouraging our partners (employees) and customers to join us in this post-fireworks cleaning frenzy.

Schedule for the day (Pacific Time):

  • Check-in begins: 9 a.m.
  • Neighborhood Cleanup: 10:00 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Lunch: 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Rain or Shine, We’ll Be There
Events will take place rain or shine, so please dress for the weather. Wear clothing that is comfortable and safe, and that you do not mind getting dirty or worn. Outdoor, closed-toe work shoes or running shoes are a must and feel free to bring your favorite pair of work-gloves to round off your attire for the day.

Registration Is Required
Please register to participate as space is limited. This will help us ensure you have a positive volunteer experience. T-shirts will be available at the event for registered participants (while supplies last), so please arrive early for your choice of sizes.
